Context

The Nederlandse Dansdagen (Dutch Dance Days) presents the best of all dance disciplines. The event boasts more than a hundred activities and premieres, ranging from classic dance to urban. It’s meant to connect viewers, makers, amateurs, and institutes. To dance is to be free.

2020: Experiencing dance from home

Our take

COVID-19 turned the ‘Dutch Dance Festival' of 2020 into a digital event. All good, as long as that doesn’t limit the experience. With this film, we invited everyone to watch the spectacular dance performances online. To touch the audience, we shot both viewers and professional dancers. The viewers watch at home as they dance along with the pros. We visually merged the two by fluently blending their dance moves. Viewers are invited to open up for this immersive experience. So dance along!

2021:
Come on and dance with me

Our take

‘Dans met mij’ (Dance with me) is the motto of the 2021 edition; a hybrid online and live event in Maastricht. It’s a call for connection and an invitation to enjoy dance in all forms. We follow four dancers and their ability to move freely. Our camera was constantly on the move, replicating their dynamic moves. The voice-over talks the viewer through how dance can set you free, indirectly touching on the current state of the world.

Social shorts

For the social shorts, we zoom in on the individual dancers. We portray them in action while they explain what dance means to them. These shorts turned out quite impressive, because without exception, dance is what changed their lives.
